The bible makes it clear that there is a category of person who believes himself to be a Christian, but will someday hear from Christ "I never knew you." That's a frightening thing to consider. How can we have assurance that we are truly saved? The right answer to this question can help doubting Christians have confidence that they are Christ's, and can stir false professors to recognize their desperate need for conversion.
