Numerous leaders within the NAR have laid claim to having personal encounters with Jesus Christ, and some of these leaders have correlated this to the personal calling as a modern-day Apostle. One individual in particular has stated in multiple interviews that he encountered Jesus while in prison, receiving salvation and an apostolic calling upon his life. However, questions arise as to the credibility of such claims and why new apostles are needed today when we are under apostolic teaching, which is the written Word of God.
