With the recent developments surrounding Mike Winger's extensive video covering Shawn Bolz and Bethel's responses to the confirmed allegations and actions, there has been a mixture of responses and perspectives pertaining to Bethel and its leadership. While many are rightfully troubled and even angered at Bethel's lack of response to this situation, others are continuing to support and defend Bethel. Some are hopeful that Bethel will bring needed reform to their organization and that this is the starting point.
However, does this one act of seeming repentance fix the deep-seated issues that have produced a massive root system of false teaching and aberrant practices? My contention is that Bethel is indefensible and that though error has been acknowledged, this is merely the tip of the iceberg.
