Samuel Farag introduces our new series, Eastern Orthodoxy: Through the Lens of Scripture, and shares his personal testimony of growing up in the Coptic Orthodox Church.
Eastern Orthodoxy: Through the Lens of Scripture is an AGTV exclusive teaching series comparing Eastern Orthodoxy to biblical Christianity, hosted by Pastor Samuel Farag of Bethel Baptist Church, Gorham, NY.
According to a 2024 New York Post article, a survey of Eastern Orthodox churches around the country found that parishes saw a 78% increase in converts in 2022, compared with pre-pandemic levels in 2019, a vast majority being young males coming from evangelical backgrounds.
What are we to make of the Eastern Orthodox Church? Are they our Eastern brothers and sisters in Christ? Do they possess the fullness of the faith? Has their faith truly been unchanged since the Apostles?
In this ten-part series, Pastor Samuel Farag will look through the lens of Scripture to answer these and many other questions regarding the Eastern Orthodox Church.
Subjects to be covered include:
- The False Gospel of the Eastern Orthodox Church
- The Claim of Infallibility of the Eastern Orthodox Church
- The Requirement of Icon Veneration
- The Doctrine of Mariology & Saint Veneration
- The Rejection of Sola Scriptura
- The Rejection of the Filioque
- The Jesus Prayer & Monasticism
- The Doctrine of Theosis
