This program begins with a discussion of theological liberalism which is now wedded to Eastern religion. Added to this mix is the belief in social and spiritual evolution. Enneagram is grounded in liberal theology and like all forms of liberalism rejects the Biblical definition of sin. The Bible says “sin is lawlessness.” We explain how antithetical Enneagram’s definition of sin is to the Bible. The nine numbers around the Enneagram circle are based on an old Roman Catholic teaching about seven vices plus two more. In their scheme, each person is a specific process to follow in order to work their way from the vice or “sin” version of their temperament to virtues and ultimately the “True Self.” Richard Rohr claims that sin, among other things, separates us from ourselves. We explain how this concept works in their religious system. When there is a false definition of sin, there is necessarily a corresponding false version of salvation. The Bible points us outside of our sinful selves to faith in Christ, repentance, and the forgiveness of sins. We must flee from the future judgment. Enneagram is fully incompatible with the Bible’s definition of sin and salvation from sin as the gift of God through Jesus Christ.
