In Philippians, Paul was writing to a church located in a city that was thoroughly Roman in all ways of life. Similarly, all of us live within the influence of a particular cultural and national context. As Paul reminds us, though, as Christians we have a citizenship that transcends all earthly, national, or geographical ties. Alistair Begg unpacks this truth from Paul, explaining that in our heavenly citizenship through Christ Jesus we find our true identity, security, and dignity.
