XL Ministries

The mission of XL Ministries is to encourage and assist churches in taking the primary role in training men to be pastors and missionaries. While theological training is essential in preparing a man for the pastorate, it cannot be divorced from the practical training that can only be received by being discipled in the context of the local church. The pattern of our Lord, the example of the apostles, and the instruction in the pastoral epistles all make the church’s responsibility in this regard absolutely clear. XL is committed to providing resources and support to like-minded churches that will train men for the pastorate. This includes internship schedules and assignments, evaluation forms, theological assignments, research papers, etc. The internship also includes practical assignments related to teaching, shepherding, and administration. The internships can be designed to be simultaneous with seminary, before or after seminary, or without seminary. It is essential that a man called to ministry has the opportunity to experience ministry while being discipled by a faithful pastor. XL believes that all theologically sound churches should be committed to training men for ministry. The church can be small or large. Interns may or may not be paid. There is no charge for churches or interns to use the services or materials that XL provides. Our internships are all under the authority of the elders of the local church. It is the church’s responsibility to lay hands on a man, confirming his calling, gifting, and training.
