Is there going to be anything aimed at children coming to AGTV? I know there are already two seasons of Ranger Joe, which is great, but it's aimed at younger children. I want to watch AGTV as a family, having cancelled all other TV subscriptions; it's just the vast majority of the content is really hard going for my sons. My husband and I are happy to explain as much as we can, but we would love to see some doctrinally sound, biblical stuff aimed at those older than 7 that is both informative and easier to understand.
Apologies if this is out of line - I've been realising that many people seem to attend churches where everyone from baby to adult sits in the main meeting and does not experience provision for children. I'm not looking to ruffle feathers or "charismaticise" AGTV in any way...it would be nice just to have a few things that cover the difficult stuff but in a more accessible way. As we currently have no church to attend, AGTV has become more than a resource - its quite the lifeline at the moment.
The children's content is something that we're hoping to include more of. It's just been difficult to find solid content like that to license. But I guess we need to consider creating it ourselves. If there were a teaching series aimed at age 7-13, what topics would you like to see? What would be helpful for your children?
I agree it's hard to find solid content! So much is aimed at very little children or provided by those who hold to extra-biblical ideas (or are big fans of Bethel, like our former church). Topics similar to what has been provided for adults would actually be ideal, just the content made easier for children to digest and understand - my 11 year old son is very interested in understanding things like redemption, salvation, evangelism, the Gospel, assurance, justification, suffering etc. My 13 year old is autistic and learning-disabled, so puppets work best for him (with stupid accents), but that's not really helpful for anyone else!
I would also really like to see topics that aid young people in sharing the gospel with their peer group - they are growing up in such an aggressively anti-Christian environment (I'm in the UK, so CRT isn't really a thing here yet but gay and trans issues definitely are, for example). Common questions thrown at my 11 year old by his peers are to do with suffering, homosexuality, truthfulness of the Bible, evidence for creation versus evolution - that sort of thing.
I'm a big believer in the full gospel being shared as often as humanly possible with Christians and not just kept for unbelievers, so if the content could include that, it would be ideal. I think a huge amount of the content provided already on AGTV could be adapted for younger audiences - the subject matters are just as vital for children to understand and convey to others. I don't know how you'd do it, but the material seems to mostly already be there...it just needs breaking down a bit more, perhaps?
Hey SKP, I am also from the UK. AGTV is also a lifeline to me as a relatively new believer. I could signpost you to what I believe is a great " Apologetics for kids" for all ages. I am not actually sure weather they already are under the umbrella of AGTV but wouldn't want to go ahead and name the Christian organisation here unless its okay'd by mod.
Feel free to share.
