Looking for a solid, biblically sound church
Well I don't live in Grants Pass, I live in Utah haha. However I saw your post and decided to do some research for you, just to kill time. First off, as a Reformed Baptist myself, I will have to give my strongest recommendation to my Presbyterian brothers and recommend:
1. Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church: OPC churches feature solid, robust, Reformed doctrine, theology, and worship. Their Statement Of Faith are the Westminster Standards (Westminster Confession of Faith and Westminster Larger/Shorter Catechisms). They have really strict guidelines for their ministers, who must hold to the Westminster Standards. Depending on your background, you may find corporate worship a bit simple and even boring. Very little to no instruments. Lots of hymns and Psalms though. Regardless, if I were in Grants Pass OR, this would be the first place I would try out, even if I disagree on baptism.
My other recommendations are not even close (at face value of course, I've never been to any in person, so I can't speak from experience):
2. River Valley Church: One of those multi-campus churches with a mega-churchy feel. Seems very hip and vibrant, which put me off at first. However, they have a VERY extensive SOF, which I always appreciate of any church. Their SOF seems well-grounded in Scripture, and I personally don't have any HUGE quibbles with it (besides them not Reformed haha), and also a few statements on the need of being continually filled with the Holy Spirit, which I disagree with. Wouldn't be my first choice but might be worth a shot. Maybe.

3. Jerome Prairie Bible Church: Seems like it would be the opposite of River Valley Church, with a small town feel, with more older folk. Their SOF is rather brief sadly, but it seemed fine, I generally agree with all the statements. Wouldn't be my first choice, but from what I can see on the internet they seem like a Biblically sound church. In the end I wouldn't mind worshipping with these brothers and sisters.
These are my recommendations (#1 is my first and definitely strongest), though I'm just a stranger on the internet who hasn't been to any of these places, so I personally can't speak for any of them. Pray about it and go find a local body of believers to worship with! :) God bless!
Hi Axel,
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my question. I will definitely check out the Presbyterian church as well as Jerome Prairie. However, I'm not too sure about River Valley since they don't have any problems having women, from their own congregation, preach in their Sunday morning services nor do they have a problem with women teaching Adult Sunday School classes to a mixed group.
Hi Debbe, yeah that is definitely an issue I was not aware of. However, I kind of figured there would be some problems that would eventually arise with a church of their size and style. I'm glad that you recognize why having women preach is a big red flag, as that seems to be something people are either unaware of or ignorant about in this day and age, especially in light of Scripture.
I'm really hoping and praying that the Presbyterian Church is a good place for you to call your home church, as that definitely seems to be the most biblically sound church in Grants Pass. But if not there, God will guide you to the place He wants to take you. As long as you put your faith and trust in Christ everything will work out for your good, and ultimately, God's glory :)
Blessings from Utah!
There are always lots of Catholic Churches around if your interested in the oldest church around!
